Short bio

Ana-Maria Staicu is Professor of Statistics at North Carolina State University and an elected Fellow of the American Statistical Association. She serves as Lead Program Director of the NIH/NHLBI Integrated Biostatistical Training for Cardiovascular Disease Research Program, a joint training initiative involving North Carolina State University, Duke Biostatistics & Bioinformatics, and the Duke Clinical Research Institute (DCRI). She is also a member of the Executive Committee and Board of Trustees of the National Institute of Statistical Sciences. Dr. Staicu is a University Faculty Scholar and recipient of the NSF CAREER Award.

Dr. Staicu’s research develops innovative statistical methods for analyzing complex, high-dimensional data arising from modern scientific studies. Her work has advanced the analysis of functional, longitudinal, and spatially indexed data, with applications spanning biomedical imaging, neurological disease, cancer screening, robotic prosthetics, social media analytics, and environmental health. By developing principled tools for modeling, inference, and prediction, she has helped researchers extract meaningful scientific insights from increasingly complex data sources, including medical imaging, electronic health records, genomics, longitudinal cohort studies, and digital platforms. Her contributions have been recognized through numerous awards and leadership roles, and her research continues to shape the development of statistical methodology for emerging data-intensive scientific challenges.
